Gurung Heritage Trek Overview
Like the majority of the treks, this Gurung heritage trek also commences from Kathmandu and after getting your stuff sorted, we shall head to Khudi. The long drive takes us through the Prithvi Highway and a myriad of attractions. We take a break at Muglin and continue on the road to arrive at Besisahar. This town is used by trekkers on the road to the Annapurna Circuit Trek. After a quick walk, we arrive at Khudi. We make our way to Ghalegaon by going through green pastures and meadows.
This village sits in the foothills of the Annapurna Mountains and is mostly inhabited by the Gurung and Ghale communities. After spending a night here, we venture towards Bhujung which houses antique monasteries and the amazing Kaiyo waterfall. It is also the largest Gurung village in Nepal. Walking along the Midim River leads us to another lively Gurung town called Pasgaon.
The Gurungs here follow a slightly different culture than their relatives at Ghalegaon. The trail takes a stop at another Gurung settlement of Pakhrikot. Learn the Gurung lifestyle and embark on Pokhara by crossing the elevated trails. Pokhara is a tourist hub and offers plenty of sites and activities to spend your day. The trail comes to an end when you arrive at Kathmandu and explore its major UNESCO World Heritage Sites. As the Gurung Heritage trek is one of the short treks in Nepal, you can undertake the trek any time of the year.
