You can witness splendid panorama of the alluring Annapurna (8091m), Pisang Peak (6091m), and several other majestic mountains. Walking further, the landscape and vegetation start changing drastically as the climate along with the environment gets harsh and dry. It gets a bit cold as you approach the Braga Monastery which is the largest monastery in the Manang district.

  • You spend the day in Manang as it is necessary to acclimatize to the changing altitude and environment. You get a good rest for the challenging days that lie ahead. While you are here you can visit the Gangapurna and the Boozo Gompa which is good drill for acclimatizing. You can also visit the village of Braga which lies near the village of Manang. On the way to Braga, you can visit the Himalayan Rescue Association and a small old monastery.

  • Avoiding the wind, you begin early trekking towards the base camp. There are two paths towards the base camp. The old path is much difficult with long steep ascends while the new path is a lot more safe. Taking the new path, reaching up a crest and descending down with alternate sharp ascents and descents, you go through steep slopes. You will pass the Tibetan-influenced Khangsar village on the way to the base camp.

  • Walking on to the trail of Manang, the path goes upwards towards Yak Kharka. Taking slow and steady steps through Tengi Manang you trek along large pasture lands. Walking further, you come across the Jarsang Khola, and continue along the trail to arrive at Yak Kharka. Upon reaching the village you are welcomed by herds of yaks and their herders.

  • It is necessary to spend a day acclimatizing to the high altitude before summiting the Chulu peak. You will be guided through some drills and technical details required during the summit. You can also take some practice sessions to prepare yourself for the climb. The views of the Muktinath and Nilgiri Himal ranges are also quite surreal from the viewpoints around the high camp.

  • Beginning the early morning climb up the summit of the Chulu West Peak, the challenging parts of the peak await you. The trail gets rugged and covered with snow while the narrow ridge leads you to the summit. Upon reaching the summit the glorious view of all the Chulu and Pisang peaks along with other magnificent mountains in the Annapurna ranges await you. After spending a fair amount of time on the summit, you begin descending back towards the base camp to spend the night.

  • Today, you walk towards the Thorung Phedi or the Thorung La High Camp. The altitude gets higher as you get close to the base of the Thorung La. There is a tea shop at the top of the Thorung La Pass (5416m). Taking a long descent leads you to Muktinath, a holy place for the Hindu and the Buddhist.

  • After having a good rest, you take drive to Jomsom. After you explore the Muktinath Temple vicinity, you prepare to continue the trek along the Kali Gandaki River. Jomsom is a small charming settlement with houses painted white and stone paved streets. There are plenty of lodges here along with shops that sell apples, cider, brandy and other products.
