The Manaslu Circuit Larkey Pass is a popular trek in Nepal that takes you around Mount Manaslu. The eighth-highest mountain in the world. As the trek follows the Budhi Gandaki River and passes through a variety of landscapes, including forests, waterfalls, and mountain villages.
Likewise, high point on the trek that is located at an altitude of 5106 meters (16744 feet). Here, the pass offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains, including Manaslu and the Annapurna range. Similarly, the trek is known for its challenging terrain and is suitable for experienced trekkers who are in good physical shape. It is recommended to hire a guide and a porter to ensure a safe and enjoyable trek.
Mount Manaslu: The highlight of the trek is, of course, the opportunity to see Mount Manaslu up close. The mountain, which stands at 8,163 meters (26,781 feet) tall. It is the eighth-highest mountain in the world and is considered one of the most beautiful peaks in the Himalayas.
Budhi Gandaki River: The trek follows the Budhi Gandaki River, which is a holy river in Hindu mythology. The river flows through a deep gorge and passes by a number of small villages and temples along the way.
Tsum Valley: The trek passes through the Tsum Valley, which is a hidden gem in the Himalayas. Also known for its ancient Tibetan culture and is home to a number of monasteries and chortens (Buddhist shrines).
Larkya La Pass: The Larkya La Pass, also known as the Larkey Pass, is the high point of the trek. From the pass, you can see breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks, including the Annapurna range.
Tibetan-influenced villages: The trek passes through a number of villages that are influenced by Tibetan culture, including Sama Gaon, Samdo, and Dharamsala. These villages offer a glimpse into the traditional way of life in the region.
Manaslu Circuit Larkey Pass is a challenging trek that takes you around Mount Manaslu, the eighth-highest mountain in the world. The trek starts in the town of Arughat and follows the Budhi Gandaki River before entering the Tsum Valley. From there, the trek passes through a number of Tibetan-influenced villages and follows a high route through the Larkya La Pass (also known as the Larkey Pass) before descending to the Annapurna region.
Moreover, the trek takes around 17-20 days to complete, depending on your pace and how many days you spend acclimatizing and exploring the villages along the way. It is also recommended to hire a guide and a porter to ensure a safe and enjoyable trek.
The best time to do the Manaslu Circuit Trek is from September to November and from March to May, when the weather is dry and the skies are clear, allowing for excellent views of the mountains. The trek can be done independently or as part of a guided group.

Day 2 Sightseeing around Kathmandu Valley
After breakfast, you meet our tour guide at the hotel premises. He will give you the highlights of the day which includes a brief history of the places you will be visiting today. Some of the places you will be visiting are Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath, and Boudhanath. There are popular sites with great cultural significance and are all listed as the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 3 Drive from Kathmandu to Arughat
On the 3rd day, you head to Arughat on a scenic drive along through the Prithvi Highway. The drive follows the curves of the Prithvi Highway and shows the rural lifestyle of Nepal. The drive is a way to see the hilly landscape, agricultural practices, and non-urban settlements of Nepal. In about 4 hours, you will reach Arughat. Overnight in Arughat.

Day 4 Trek from Arughat to Lapubesi
A stone-paved trail will take you along the bank of Budi Gandaki River. The trek starts by crossing a bridge in Arughat and goes uphill through Sal forests. The trail goes both uphill and downhill and passes tropical waterfalls, more suspension bridges, and Magar and Gurung villages. You make your way through terraced fields of rice, millet, and maize, and descend to the Gurung village of Lapubesi. Overnight in Lapubesi.

Day 5 Trek from Lapubesi to Dovan
From Lapubesi, the path climbs behind rocky boulders and then drops to the sandy riverbed. After crossing Tharo Khola, you reach Khorlabesi and climb over a small ridge to arrive at Tatopani. There are natural hot water streams flowing down near vertical cliffs here. Later you climb over another ridge and climb through wide staircase to end today’s trek at Dobhan. Overnight in Dovan.

Day 6 Trek from Dobhan to Jagat
From Dobhan, you continue your trek following the river beside the village. The trail is steep in some places and certain areas are also prone to landslides. You cross the suspension bridge over Dobhan Khola and follow a rugged rocky trail. You then cross a long bridge over Yaru Khola. At this point, you will have entered Manaslu Conservation Area. You trek through the conversation area on stone stairs to reach the beautiful village of Jagat. Overnight in Jagat.

Day 7 Trek from Jagat to Ekle Bhatti
The trail ascends through the villages of Salleri and crosses Budi Gandaki River. You then arrive at Philim. It is a Gurung village and gives you the view of Shringi Himal (7187m), Boudha (6672m), and Himal Chuli (7893m). You will pass a check post and MCAP Visitors Center. The trek then continues on a flat track to reach Ekle Bhatti. Ekle Bhatti means ‘one teahouse’ and it is a small settlement. There are, however, more than one teahouse. Overnight in Ekle Bhatti.

Day 8 Trek from Ekle Bhatti to Bihi Phedi
Leaving Ekle Bhatti behind, you descend down to the small village of Deng. You pass Lokpa and Myla village to arrive at Deng which is a viewpoint to observe the Shringi Himal range. The people here are ethnically Tibetan. The trail then climbs through the village of Lana and passes through a forested area to reach Bihi Phedi. Overnight in Bihi Phedi.

Day 9 Trek from Bihi Phedi to Lihi Gaon
After Bihi Phedi, you trek alongside the Mani stonewalls. You cross Budi Gandaki River and pass through the village of Ghap to reach Namrung. This Tibetan village sports a number of monasteries and Chortens throughout the village and is a viewpoint for Shringi and Ganesh Himal ranges. Lihi Gaon is just a few hours away from Namrung. Day 10 Trek from Lhee Gaon to Sama Gaon
You climb up and cross a river originated from Lidanda glaciers too, first, arrive at Sho village. If the weather is clear, you can enjoy the view of Manaslu (8163m), Naike Peak (6211m), and Manaslu North (7157m) from here. The trek then continues through alpine vegetation to reach Sama Gaon. Sama Gaon is a Tibetans settlement and you see Manaslu (8163m), Naike Peak (6211m), and Larkya (6249m). Visit the old monasteries in Samagaon to understand the Buddhist culture. Overnight in Sama Gaon.

Day 11 Acclimatization at Sama Gaon (rest day)
As you will have gained high altitude and have been trekking for a while, you take a rest day in Sama Gaon. A day’s rest will help with getting acclimatized to the higher altitude. This village is an absolute treat for the outsiders to explore. The houses here are small and tightly packed with a large gompa at upper reaches. You can observe ancient architecture, traditional lifestyle and ancient Tibetan culture still being practiced.

Day 12 Trek from Sama Gaon to Samdo
It is an easy day of trekking today. You trek uphill past Kermo Kharka and descend back to the bank of Budi Gandaki. After a few hours of trekking, you read Kyanggma Kharka with long Mani walls and stone huts. After crossing a bridge, you arrive at the gates of Samdo. Overnight in Samdo.

Day 13 Trek from Samdo to Larkya Peak Base Camp
Leaving Sama Gaon behind, you follow the trek route to the north and climb Larkya Bazaar. This is one of the most flourished trade markets in the region. After about 5 hours walk from Samdo, you arrive at Dharamsala where you can find a few stone houses for the travelers. It is also a viewpoint of Larkya Peak (6249m) and Naike Peak (6211m). Past Dharamsala, you walk through Larkya Glacier with a close view of snowcapped mountains to arrive at Larkya Base Camp. Overnight in Larkya Base camp.

Day 14 Acclimatization at the Base Camp (Rest Day)
You gain high altitude very quickly as you arrive at the base camp. Even after a day of acclimatization at Sama Gaon, you will need to take another full day for acclimatization. This is to make sure that you are fully fit and properly acclimatized for the climb the next day.

Day 16 Trek from Bimthang to Tilije
Bimthang is a great viewpoint for Manaslu North, Himlung (7126m) and Cheo (6812m) peaks. From Bimthang to Tilije, the trail gets much easier. You start the day with a gentle climb through the paddy fields and march towards Kharche. Later, you descend through the rhododendron and pine forests to arrive at Tilije. Overnight in Tilije.

Day 17 Trek from Tilije to Besisahar
Today is the final day of trekking. From Tilije, you follow the downstream of Marsayangdi river and pass through many scattered villages to reach Besisahar. The trek downhill from Tilije to Besisahar is long. Upon your arrival, you can rest at your hotel and celebrate the completion of your climb. Overnight in Besisahar.

Day 18 Drive from Besisahar to Kathmandu & Transfer to the Hotel
Your trek has come to an end and you will be returning to Kathmandu. After about 6-7 hours of drive, returning the same way you came, you will arrive in Kathmandu. You can spend the remainder of your time in Kathmandu doing souvenir shopping. Or, you can just rest since you have been trekking for quite a long time. Overnight in Kathmandu.
