Panchase Trek

Relatively lesser-known treks in the magnificent Annapurna region. While most of the treks in the region head towards the Himalayas to the north, this trek explores the southern skirts of the region. The Panchase Trek navigates the Gurung villages to the southwest of Pokhara to gradually make it to Dhampus. A delirious panorama of the Annapurna Himalayas along with Mt. Machhapuchhre (6997m) and Lamjung Himal (6983m)  complemented by the rich culture of the Gurung ethnic communities.

Panchase Trek Overview

The Panchase trek starts with your arrival in the Kathmandu valley. Spend a day in the valley as you explore the revered UNESCO world heritage sites. Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, and Patan Durbar Square not just grant a bountiful of photogenic architecture but offer insight into the history of the city as well. On the next day, we head to the Pokhara valley either by air or land. The Pokhara valley is a must-visit place in Nepal and travelers are left spellbound by its natural landmarks. Next, we shall drive to Khadekhola and begin the trek to Bhumdi, a typical Gurung village.

The trail leads us to Panchase Bhanjyang and here we can observe the delinquent views of the Himalayas. As we move forward, we reach Bhadaure which is famous for homestays. After spending a night there, we arrive at Dhampus and relish at the sight of the Annapurna Mountain range and the Pokhara Valley. We shall begin our descent from Dhampus and initially head to Kirakhor.

Learn the Gurung lifestyle of the people residing here. A short trek leads us to Hyangja and a drive to Pokhara. We will finally head to Kathmandu the next day where the trip shall end. The Panchase Trek is doable at any time of the year. All in all, the Panchase Trek is an introduction to both the cultural and natural marvels of the lesser-known trail beneath the Annapurna Himalayas.

Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu
Arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport and meet our representative who will transfer you to your hotel. You can rest at the hotel or explore the nearby places to observe the lifestyle of the people in Kathmandu. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 2
Kathmandu Sightseeing to Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Patan Durbar Square and Swayambhunath.
This day entails exploration of the major UNESCO world heritage sites of the Kathmandu valley which include Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, and Patan Durbar Square. These sites have great architectural and cultural significance in the history of Nepal. They have carried the religious and spiritual faith of the whole Nepal reflected by the brilliant mastery of our ancestors. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 3
Kathmandu-Pokhara. Fly or drive to Pokhara and overnight at Hotel.
Today, we will head to Pokhara. We can either fly to Pokhara or drive to reach the Lake City. The flight lasts for about 30 minutes whereas the drive lasts for about 6 hours. Pokhara, with Kathmandu, is the most visited tourist destination of Nepal. Known for the mesmerizing views of the Himalayas like Machhapuchhre (6997m) and Annapurna I (8091m), Pokhara also sports plenty of other attractions. We can spend the day exploring these marvels at Pokhara. Overnight in Pokhara.
Day 4
Pokhara – Khadekhola - Bhumdi 1600m. 5 hrs Drive
Today is another day of driving and we shall aim for Khadekhola and then Bhumdi. The drive lasts for a total of 5 hours and is filled with a plethora of greenery and sights of sky-piercing mountains. Bhumdi is a village that sits southwest of Pokhara and provides an inside look in the lives of the Gurung people. Overnight in Bhumdi.
Day 5
Bhumdi - Panchase Bhanjyang (2030m) 6hrs.
From Bhumdi, we continue towards the Panchase Bhanjyang. Leaving Bhumdi, we head for the vantage point to the west of the village. After observing the views of the Annapurna Himalayas and the surrounding landscapes, we trek towards Thame Danda. Thereon, the trail gradually inclines to reach Panchase Bhanjyang. We can also visit a Hindu temple just before arriving at the village. Overnight in Panchase Bhanjyang.
Day 6
Panchase - Bhadaure (1700m) 4 hrs
The trail from Panchase to sees a downward spiral in altitude. We descend along the forested trails with bountiful of interactions with the locals of the area. Although the trail is short, we can relish in the company of tranquil forests filled with plenty of flora and fauna. Bhadaure is a small settlement in Kaski which is mostly famous for homestay and teahouses. Overnight in Bhadaure.
Day 7
Bhadaure - Dhampus (1600m) 5hrs.
Today, we set our sights on the most amazing and quaint hill station in the periphery of Pokhara, Dhampus. The trek to Dhampus first reaches Dhikur to join the Highway and heads north. As the trail re-joins the company of serene nature, we slowly continue towards Dhampus which sits right at the border of the Annapurna Conservation Area. This hill station provides best view of the Pokhara valley and mountains in Annapurna ranges and Mt. Machhapuchhre (6997m). We can learn about the culture of the Gurung communities that reside here. Overnight in Dhampus.
Day 8
Dhampus - Kirakhor (1500m)
Kirakhor is the destination for today and we need to make our way through the lush forests and vegetation to reach here. The trails are decorated by the occasional glimpses of wild animals and a variety of plant life. The trek follows a level trail for a while to descend and, later, ascends to reach Kirakhor. The locals of the village are mostly of Gurung and Chhetri ethnicities. Overnight in Kirakhor .
Day 9
Kirakhor – Hyangja - Pokhara (2hrs walk and 30-minute drive)
The trip is reaching its end and we shall head towards Pokhara for today. The trail initially starts by reaching Hyangja. After we have lunch there, we get on a bus and drive to Pokhara. The drive takes about 30 minutes and upon arrival in Pokhara transfer to your hotel. As you reach Pokhara pretty early, you have the rest of the day to sightsee around the Valley. Davis Falls, Mahendra Cave, Bat Cave, and World Peace Pagoda are the major destinations that you can visit. Ending the trip on a high note, you can boat at the Phewa Lake and enjoy the lively Lakeside. Overnight in Pokhara.
Day 10
Pokhara-Kathmandu. Drive or fly and overnight at hotel.
Today we need to head towards Kathmandu. We have the option of either going by land or by air. The drive lasts for about 6 hours whereas the flight lasts for 30 minutes. Whichever option you choose, you'll be blessed with amazing scenery. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, head to your hotel. You can head to the local markets and hunt gifts, souvenirs, and mementos as you prepare to head to your destination on the next day. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 11
Departure
Today is your final day in Nepal and our representative will drop you off at the Tribhuvan International Airport for your final departure. WE look forward to seeing you again. Goodbye!
