Khaptad Trek

Khaptad Trek explores this park which thrives in the desolate setting and quenches the thirst of those in search of a natural awakening. Khaptad Trek Itinerary

Arrive at Kathmandu and begin your journey by taking a short flight to Dhangadi. Dhangadi is a lively town in Terai, and there you can kill your boredom by visiting the Johar Lake or doing some bird watching in Mohana. The off-road ride takes you to Bajhang and you can see that as we drive further, the remoteness increases.

Bajhang is often called the gateway of Khaptad National Park. Interact with the locals here to learn their version of life. Start your trek from Bajhang and walk through boulders and steep rocks to reach the Khaptad campsite. You can either set up your own tent or reside in an existing one.

Observe more than 500 species of plants and do some soul searching in the Khaptad Lake. The serene ambiance around the lake along with the views of thelush greenery grant blissful experience. After making a quick visit to the Khaptad Baba Ashram, we embark to Bichpani camp. The trail goes through greenery and you’ll find the walk extremely satisfying.

We spend a night at the Bichpani camp and then head towards Silgadhi. Human settlements are clearly visible here and after tasting some local delicacies, we’ll head back to Dhangadi and ultimately to Kathmandu. After incorporating a quick visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the Khaptad Trek ends with your departure from Nepal.

Day 2
Flight Kathmandu to Dhangadi
Today we shall wake up early and head to the airport for a quick flight to Dhangadi. The flight lasts for an hour and gives the panoramic display of the hills and mountains. Dhangadi is a city in the Terai region of Nepal and has a pretty hot climate for most of the year. You can visit the JoharLake or indulge in some bird watching in Mohana. Overnight in Dhangadi.
Day 3
Drive from Dhangadi to Bajhang/Tamail- 9 Hrs
The major part of our day will be spent on the road. A drive from the plains of Terai takes us amidst the hills. As we cross numerous hills, we can enjoy the sights of fleeting settlements and gorgeous landscapes.Bajhang sits in the far western side of Nepal and is the gateway to the Khaptad National Park. Overnight in Bajhang.
Day 4
Trek from Bajhang (1300 m) to Khaptad Campsite (3020 m)-7 Hrs
Today, we shall trek to the entrance of the Khaptad National park which is also known as the Khaptad campsite. The trek from Bajhang takes us an uphill trail that lasts for about 7 hours. Hike through the lush forests and rocky terrain. The campsite lies amidst the wilderness and you can see the amazing mountains and green hills. Overnight in Khaptad campsite.
Day 5
Explore Khaptad and visit Khaptad Baba Ashram (3020 m)
Today we shall explore the Khaptad National park. After paying for the permits, we enter the park. The park covers an area of 225 km2 and is famous for its astounding greenery. More than 500 species of fauna and animals like black bear and wild dog can be found here. We shall visit the Khaptad Baba ashram which was built in memory of a Baba that lived in Triveni. We can also learn about the sage and his teachings while at the Khaptad Baba Ashram. Overnight in Khaptad National park.
Day 6
Trek from Khaptad Campsite (3020 m) to Bichpani Camp (2905 m) 5 Hrs
The road from Khaptad campsite to the Bichpani camp is about 15 km and the trail is fairly made. The road goes through the lush forests and greenery. The trails are filled with a variety of plants and animals to entertain us throughout the trek.Bichpani camp consist of small lodges and camps that are used by travelers as a resting point. Overnight in Bichpani camp.
Day 7
Trek from Bichpani Camp (2905 m) to Silgadhi (1340 m) -5 Hrs
The route to Silgadhi sees a sharp decrease in altitude. Silgadhi is a bustling settlement and is the resting point for today. We take a quick break at Jhingrana and then arrive at Silgadhi. We shall check all our stuff and then head to our hotel. Later, we can explore the village and observe the lifestyle of the locals to spend the rest of the day. Overnight in Slgadhi.
Day 8
Drive to Dhangadi| 9 Hrs
From Silgadhi, we drive to reach Dhangadi. We shall make a quick stop at Dadeldhura for lunch. We arrive at Dhangadi later at night. As the drive will cover most of the day, we can rest upon reaching Dhangadi. There are a few attractions around the town ripe for exploration as well. Overnight in Dhangadi.
Day 9
Flight from Dhangadi to Kathmandu and Sightseeing in Kathmandu
Today, we fly to Kathmandu early in the morning. The flight lasts for about an hour and the flight provides amazing view of the surrounding. At Kathmandu, we will indulge in some sightseeing by visiting the sites like Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, and Swayambhunath. We can visit the Kathmandu Durbar Square and Bhaktapur Durbar Square as well, if time permits. Remember to shop for gifts and souvenirs along the way. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 10
Final Departure
Today is your final day in Nepal and our representative will drop you off at the Tribhuvan International Airport for your final departure. We wish you a safe flight and hope that you will return to visit Nepal again.
