The Jugal Himal trek or the Panch Pokhari Trek is one of such treks that offer a combined package of nature and culture. Jugal Himal Trek Overview

The Jugal Himal trek commences from a short ride to Chautara. The drive itself is a bit hectic but the display of nature makes it worthwhile. We arrive at Chautara and after a brief lunch, begin the walk to Syaule. The trail is filled with Tamang and Sherpa villages and Syaulealso has a significant populace belonging to those groups. The trail reaches the grazing ground of Kami Kharka and climbs the Kami Kharka Danda.

The scene from the top is surreal. Later, you head to the Chyochyo Danda is also the same as Kami Kharka Danda. Hile Bhanjyang is next on the trek as we relish the magnificent sights of the Jugal, Langtang, and Everest Himalayas. We explore the outskirts of this village and later head on the road to Nosyampati. It sits amidst the wilderness and boasts of a serene atmosphere. As we trek ahead, we reach the Panch Pokhari and the beauty of the 5 lakes will surely grant delirious views.

From this holy spot, we head to Mahathang which was once a Tibetan refugee camp. After exploring its secrets, we head to Temathang and take some time in learning about the Sherpa culture and traditions. As we walk on the banks of the NyasamRiver, we reach Ambakharka. The final part of the trek involves exploring the sites like Goludanda, Changing, and Bakhang Gompa. From here, we will head to Kathmandu where the trip shall end.

Itinerary


  • From Kathmandu, we drive for about 5 hours to reach Chautara. After we have our lunch there, we collect our stuff and commence the trek to Syaule. We pass Gaurati and Ghunsa villages before reaching Syaule. This village is inhabited by the Tamang ethnicity and offers an inside-look into their daily lives. Overnight in Syaule.

  • Today we shall head to the Kami Kharka Danda. We need to walk for about 5 hours today and through lush forests and vegetation. We shall take a quick break at Ghyang and, later, head towards the Kami Kharka Danda. On the way, we cross the Sepgaon Khola to go past Sanigauda.An uphill climb from Sanigauda takes us to the Kami Kharka Danda. Overnight in Kami Kharka Danda.

  • We wake up early and venture on the trail to Chyochyo Danda. As we trek for about 6 hours, we shall go through quaint settlements and rhododendron forests. Crossing numerous rivers and waterfalls, the trek settles at Chyochyo Danda. The lush pasturelands offer great views as we conclude the day observing the lifestyle of the local inhabitants. Overnight in Chyochyo Danda.

  • As we leave the Chyochyo Danda, we can see the trails becoming steep and the increase in altitude. We go through lush forests and follow the course of different rivers and streams on the trek. Wetrek along the hill-side trail of Hurprang Danda to reach Hile Bhanjyang. Hile Bhanjyang is a green land from where we can see a panoramic view of the Jugal Himal. Overnight in Hile Bhanjyang.

  • Today, we won’t do any sort of hiking but instead explore the Hile Bhanjyang. This village is famous for being a vantage point to observe the panoramic view of mountains in Everest and Langtang ranges. You can visit the UrgayNamedoCholing Gumba as well. The people here are of Tamang community and offer you great hospitality to immerse in their livelihood and traditional practices. Overnight in Hile Bhanjyang.

  • Today, we trek to Nosyampati and it is the final stop before Panch Pokhari. Our trail is a combination of ups and downs that goes through forests and ridges. The trail ascends for a while and descends to Nosyampati on the second half of the trek. As we walk on the stony trails, we arrive at Nosyampati. Rather than a settlement, it is a campsite which offers amazing view of the Jugal Himal ranges. Overnight in Nosyampati.

  • We head to the revered destination of Panch Pokhari on this day. The trek also offers enchanting affairs with the Langtang National Park and the Langtang ranges far off in the horizon. We also cross the Lauribina Bhanjyang (3760m) and descend to reach the esteemed lake system. Panch Pokhari is a holy destination among the Hindus and it comprises of 5 mini lakes. People flock this site during the months of June and July due to religious purposes. Overnight in Panch Pokhari.

  • After waking for approximately 7 hours from Panch Pokhari, we will reach the destination for the day which is Mahathang. The trail sees a decrease in elevation and goes through steep downhill terrain. Mahathang was once a Tibetan refugee camp and the people here follow Tibetan culture. We can visit the nearbyChandy Gompa as well. Overnight in Mahathang.

  • Our trail for the day involves walking along the banks of the BalephiRiver. The DorjeLakpa Glacier also offer quite a challenge on the trek as we move through glacial moraines on some occasions. We walk on a downhill trail to reach Temathang. It is a Sherpa village and you can taste the local Sherpa cuisine and delicacies. The people here follow Buddhism and the culture is reflected in their lifestyle. Overnight in Temathang.

  • The trail for the day is uphill and it goes through rhododendron and pine forests. We walk on the banks of the Nyasam River and cross it to join the trail passing through pasturelands. We take a quick break at Kanachassa and then head to Ambakharka. It is a village which sits on the grazing ground. The village also offers plenty of traditional houses and home-stay services. Overnight in Ambakharka.

  • Today we won’t be doing any sort of heavy trekking, but rather we shall spend the day by exploring the sites around Ambakharka. We will visit the sites like Goludanda andChankang, which are vantage points to witness the panorama of Everest, Langtanag, ad Jugal Himal ranges.Meanwhile,Bakhang Gompa is also an excellent detour where you can see the monks performing their daily rituals and ceremonies. Overnight in Bakhang Gompa.

  • The trip is coming to an end and we shall head towards Kathmandu. The drive takes us about 7 hours and along the way we can see amazing views of the snowy mountains, hills and rivers. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, head to your hotel. You can also feel free to shop for any souvenirs and gifts to take with you. Overnight in Kathmandu.

  • Today is your final day in Nepal and our representative will drop you off at the Tribhuvan International Airport for your final departure. We hope to serve you in the coming future as well.
